A reflector is a very practical thing. It can save our lives. Unfortunately many people don’t have a reflector with them when it’s needed. It is easy to forget the reflector home. It is even easy to forget to buy it at all.
Our project, The Reflective Shopping Bag, is based on an idea to change something that already exist in to a reflector. It is like a parasite, but immaterial. It doesn't exist as an object of its own but as a part of something else that we use everyday. It also has to be something that we don’t think about. It should not be a common decision to wear it.
We thought of a shopping bag as an object that we can’t live without in a modern society. We didn't create anything new, we just made the shopping bag more efficient by letting it play the role of a reflector as well. We designed the reflector not only useful for the customer, but also for the business. It doesn't cost anything for the customer, and still gives him/her protection in the dark. It also gives good publicity for the company paying for it as it shows their care for their customers by providing them with a reflector. It is like a bonus for choosing them. It is a good way of getting designers and business to co-operate in a way where we can make a change for better and safer living.

Function and use:

A logo of a supermarket on a shopping bag with reflecting paint. A Shopping bag is a good reflector because it is carried on knee height – where reflectors work most efficiently. Materials for the shopping bag are non-whitened paper for paper-bag and fabric for fabric-bag. Logos are printed with reflecting paint. For a fabric-bag also jelly reflector can be used.
In this way reflector is more like an action then an object. You don’t even think about getting one, you just buy groceries!

Reflecting shopping bag ia a good idea, which also makes passive people to use a reflector during their shopping. The suggestion broadens the view of a reflector. Expensive to realize in a paper bag, works better in versions made out of cloth. The Reflecting shopping bag was the most developed concept of the similar entries.
